Cooperatives Set for New Training Programs

A team from UGAMA composed of the Executive Director, Program Manager, and Access to Finance Officer visited Heifer International Rwanda for a strategic meeting aimed at discussing the findings from the cooperative profiling activity and preparing for the continuation of the training activities.

The meeting held on  26th  May2026 and was conducted with the heifer  internationalRwanda team composed of the Country Director, Capacity Building and Institutional Relations Officer, MEAL Officer, together with Field Coordinators.

The discussions focused on the following key points: presenting and explaining the findings from the cooperative profiling activity, analyzing the capacity gaps identified within cooperatives and the priority areas requiring intervention, planning for the continuation and implementation of the training activities, and strengthening collaboration and coordination between UGAMA and Heifer International Rwanda to ensure effective implementation of the planned activities.

Among the recommendations discussed during the meeting were finalizing the training schedule and selecting participants before the commencement date (Heifer), sharing the profiling findings and training materials with all stakeholders in a timely manner (UGAMA), strengthening coordination between field teams to facilitate smooth implementation of the training activities (UGAMA and Heifer), and conducting regular follow-up and monitoring to assess the effectiveness of the trainings and provide the necessary support to beneficiaries (UGAMA and Heifer).

The discussions were productive and demonstrated a strong commitment from both institutions toward supporting cooperative development and strengthening their capacities.

It was also agreed that the training activities will officially commence on Tuesday, 1 June 2026, and are expected to contribute significantly to improving cooperative performance and institutional development.
