RUBAVU: “No More Excuses for Failed Cooperatives,” 268 Participants told

 

The trainees had an opportunity to work in groups, share experiences,and carry out the practical exercises assigned to them.

Go back  home ,assess yourselves  If you find that the path you have chosen is not yielding the desired results, make the changes. The goal is not drop out of; our goal is to progress, grow, and generate income.

This said by Harriett Mutoni, the PRISM project social capital & training  Program manager on 10th June 2026 In Rubavu District Gisenyi sector in Official concluding Training of 268 from  SHG/Union Representatives from 15 Districts of  the PRISM project,organized and conducted in partnership with UGAMA and  HEIFER INTERNATIONAL RWANDA through the project of PRISM,which entitles “Capacity Building Training for SHG/Union Representatives on Recordkeeping, Financial Literacy, and Business Management.”

Harriett Mutoni reminded the training participants that failure does not mean giving up. Instead, they should assess themselves and improve their way of working, since the ultimate goal is to generate income

The  activity started last Tuesday 02nd  from Huye continued to  Musanze Thursday 04th and 05th june,whre  Rubavu  group was made of 72 participants from 12 Unions selected form 4 districts: Karongi, Rutsiro, Ngororeo and Nyabihu,while Musanze around  88 trained from 15 unions across the Districts of Burera,Gakenke,Rulindo,Gicumbi and Musanze held the event, also Huye District hosted 108 participants drawn from the districts of Nyamagabe,Nyamasheke,Nyaruguru,Gisagara ,Ruhango and Huye hosted the event.

The training covered Business management skills, Record keeping and and Financial literacy. Trainees were given opportunity to practice the records of their day to day businesses and  planed to apply same skills in their future operations.

Harriett Mutoni The PRISM project social capital & training  Program manager concluded the trainings,thanking trainees for their  hard work Also UGAMA for the practical and engaging trainings they provided.

“The goal of this training is to equip us with effective ways of generating income so that we can improve our livelihoods and contribute to the development agenda of our country. Let us support our country by also helping ourselves. So let us thank UGAMA for the hard work.” She said

She called for immediate field visits to coach the cooperatives so that they can finalize their registrations and apply the gained skills.

      Thanks to Heifer International Rwanda and UGAMA to support cooperatives and equiping them with effective ways of generating income so that they can improve their livelihoods and contribute to the development agenda of the country.
