Over 60 out of 133 Milk Collection Centres across 27 districts have been visited- Overview of the RDDP II Project.

Over 60 Milk Collection Centres (MCCs) in 133 and 134 cooperatives  across 27 districts have been visited  so far, engaging directly with cooperative leaders and members to assess performance, identify challenges, and explore opportunities for growth in the dairy sector.

Since April, a team of enumerators and experts from UGAMA, in partnership with  Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), has been conducting a comprehensive data collection exercise under the project known as Rwanda Dairy Development  Phase II (RDDP II).

This data collection activity combines both quantitative and qualitative approaches and aims to assess the performance and needs of dairy cooperatives managing Milk Collection Centres (MCCs) across the country .

Through interviews and consultations with cooperative leaders and members, the exercise seeks to identify gaps in governance and financial management, strengthen the dairy value chain, and support cooperatives in becoming more sustainable and profitable through tailored recommendations, capacity-building sessions, and training.

So far, the team has visited several MCCs, including Ntyazo, Muyira, Kibirizi, Nyagisozi, and Busoro in Nyanza District, MCC KOAIB Byimana, RUZICO, COOPAGIKI Kinazi, and KOTUA in Ruhango District. In Kamonyi District, visits were conducted at Rukoma, Kayenzi, Rugobagoba, Mbayaya, and Kagina MCCs.While In Rwamagana District, the team visited Muhazi, Kigabilo, Rubona, Dufaco Gishali, Fumbwe, Gahengeri (Gemura Solution), and Giramata (Nzige). In Bugesera District, visits covered Nyamata, Mayange, Gashora, and Ruhuha MCCs.

Further profiling activities were carried out in Kayonza District (Buhabwa, Gahini, Kabarondo, Ndego, Mwili, Nyamiyaga), Kirehe District (Kirehe, Murama, Kidafacco), Rulindo District (Kijabagwe, Rukozo, Gasiza, Tumba, Ruhunde), Burera District (Rushashi, Muhondo), and Gakenke District (Gakenke, Gatonde, Ruli MCCs).
