Over 5,000 Stakeholders Convene to Advance Investment, Innovation and Solutions for Africa’s Agri-Food Systems

UGAMA participates in the Africa Food Systems Forum 2026, joining continental and global stakeholders in shaping resilient and sustainable agricultural transformation.
UGAMA is participating in the Africa Food Systems Forum (AFS Forum) 2026, taking place at the Kigali Convention Centre from 31 August to 4 September 2026.
The Forum brings together government representatives, policymakers, investors, farmers, researchers, private-sector actors and development partners from across Africa and beyond under the theme: “Investing in Africa’s Agri-Food Systems: Nourishing Nations, Growing Jobs, Building Resilience.”
The AFS Forum serves as a strategic platform for stakeholders across the agri-food sector to exchange knowledge, experiences, innovations, policy perspectives, business models and investment opportunities aimed at accelerating the transformation of Africa’s food systems.
The Forum is bringing together more than 5,000 participants, including Heads of State and Government representatives, Ministers, senior policymakers, development partners, private-sector leaders, investors, researchers, academia, farmer organizations, youth and civil society.
The 2026 edition also marks the 20th anniversary of the Africa Food Systems Forum, providing an opportunity to reflect on progress made, renew commitments and strengthen partnerships towards the future of Africa’s agricultural and food systems.
As a development partner supporting cooperatives, particularly those operating within the agricultural sector, UGAMA is participating alongside other African and international stakeholders to share its experience and perspectives on strengthening farmer organizations, advancing professional agricultural practices, improving agricultural value chains and promoting climate-resilient agriculture.
UGAMA’s participation underscores the critical role of strong and professionally managed cooperatives in empowering farmers, improving productivity, facilitating access to markets and finance, and contributing to inclusive, sustainable and climate-resilient agri-food systems across Africa as emphasized by the Minister of Agriculture, Hon.Dr. Telesphore Ndabamenye, during the opening of the Forum..
