Training and new leadership in Tuzamurane – Gihara
In Kamonyi District yesterday 24th March ,the UGAMA through the project named “UMUGORE N’IBIDUKIKIJE” Women cooperativists leading empowerment processes in the face of the climate crisis and gender-based violence” aims to catalyse ecosocial transformation processes with gender justice,in promoting adaptation and mitigation to climate change through the leadership, resilience and autonomy of rural women organised in seven cooperatives in Kamonyi District,with the support of GARAPENERAKO LANKIDTZAREN EUSKAL AGENTZIA, the cooperative TUZAMURANE Gihara received training focused on sustainable agriculture, gender equality, and women’s role in leadership.
Members who participated gained valuable knowledge and skills that will help them improve their activities and play an active role in the development of their families and the community. This training reflects how investing in women’s empowerment is a key step toward sustainable development.
This progress was further demonstrated during the general assembly of the cooperative, where members re-updated in leadership. The elected new leaders are Leonnilla Nyiraneza who was elected as president, assisted by Nirere Seraphine The vice-chairperson, while Esperance Bayisenge was elected as secretary and the advisory committee includes Claudine Mukakagisha and Jonas Kubwimana.
The newly elected leaders expressed their commitment to promoting good governance, collaboration, and sustainable development for all members and this highlights that when women are empowered, they become a driving force for positive change in society.
